Goodreads asked Eric Auxier:

How do you get inspired to write?

Eric Auxier It happens everywhere, all the time. A snippet from a newspaper here, an overheard conversation there.
But, to tell you the truth, my "magic hour" for inspiration is...3am! I can't tell you how many times I've woken up with some great idea for a story, or with an idea a way to resolve a conflict. This happened to me when in the middle of writing Yakuza Dynasty. I knew the beginning and the end, but not really what happened in the middle. I set the story aside for about 2 months. Then, one morning, I woke up at 3am, and viola! the rest of the story just flowed from my head!
I DO wish, however, that my "magic hour" was 3pm and not 3am!
