As a journalist, I've spend the past 25 years on deadline. I've never been allowed to have writer's block! The magazine or newspaper is going to press and I have space to fill. I think, actually, always being on deadline has been great training for me as a writer. By design, I have to get to the point and turn in the story. I don't have time to ruminate. Writing books is more daunting because there isn't a deadline. So, I set one for myself and write as if the book is going to publish without me or not!
