Hi Joy, Would it be possible if you could answer a few more questions? You do not have to answer all the questions but I would like to gather some more information. What advice would you give someone else who is suffering from ME? Has Sue Townsend influenced your work in any way? Can we expect more books to come? Thank you again for this. I will be sure to send you some of the work once it is completed!

Hello Inaiha
I'll answer the question about Sue Townsend first.
I only had two weeks with Sue on a writer's course, but yes, she was the reason that I wanted to become a published writer. She was a total inspiration, but on a very human and very funny level. She was completely self depreciating, unaffected by her huge success, and so generous with everything, mainly her precious time. I am delighted that we kept in touch and I was finally able to tell her that I had had a book published before she so sadly died.
More books? Oh yes! As long as I can continue to find interesting stories, there will be tales to tell. The latest, Buried on the Fens has just been released, and there is a new DI Jackman novel with the editor now. We are aiming for a September release for that.
Regarding ME, that is a difficult question. Things have changed considerably since I was diagnosed, and the medical profession now recognise the seriousness of it. The only thing I can say is initially don't fight it. I did, and I got worse. You cannot 'work through' ME. You must back off for a while and try to gently recharge your depleted batteries through rest. The most important thing is not to give up. You can get through it.
I do hope this helps, though I feel the ME problem is too deep to generalise on. A really good doctor, therapist, or friend could make all the difference to recovery. The people around who love and care for you are the most important thing, as it is easy to lose hope when you feel so very ill.
Hope you are well, Inaiha, and I send you my very best wishes,
Take care, Joy

I am amazed at the creativity you possess. How do you do it? I am currently deep in the Matt Ballard series and am awestruck at how you have shifted gears in that one. Although part of the same universe, it is strikingly different from the other series. I still can not get over how you have described the blood in Five bloody hearts. I also have Stella's story line up. Looking forward to many more from you.

I just wanted to say, I absolutely love your "on the Fens" series. I have devoured all of them in less than a month's time! I started with all of your other books, and loved them as well. I can't wait for the next installment, but also wondered, if the Jackman and Evans series will continue?
