Benedict Jacka My favourites while growing up were Watership Down and Lord of the Rings. I used to reread LotR once a year or so.

The magical community in your books seems to be all in England or Europe in general. Are there other mage establishments in, say, the United States? or Africa? If so, Why don't they interact more with the Brit-Mages? FYI, I've only read through 'Taken' so I may be in the dark about things revealed in your later books.
