I just started to read this book and I just read the first two chapters twice and I just don't get a thing, I just don't understand it... Does it get better? Has anyone lese had the same problem? Because it's really frustrating me and I really want to read it... (this is my first Leigh Bardugo book).

I had the same problem! I haven't read the other trilogy that comes before these books. It does get much better and things are explained as you go. Just take it in stride and don't dwell too much on unknown words or locations, it will all fall into place the further you go.

Believe me, I had the same struggle, and it gets better...A LOT. You just need to push on and keep reading it, and you will fall in love with this book

I actually did that too I was reading it in chunks so it was hard to peace everything together so what i did was i listened to the free audio-book portion online. It helped me understand and appreciate the first chapter more and made the rest of the book easier to understand. I was hooked by the end of chapter three. Chapter three is where Kaz finds out about breaking into "The Ice Court" so its where the book is set into motion.

same thing happened to me! the plot truly starts around kaz's kidnapping and encounter with van eck (we hate the guy). the chapter before is... just an incredibly well-written introduction to the characters n such.
honestly though, the chapter about joost holds little to no significance in the plot. sure it serves for some weird af foreshadowing, but it really wouldn't matter if you skipped it.
but do read the entire book, you won't regret it >:)
