Hi Mr Lawrence. Red Sister is the first one of your books I have started reading. Alas, I have had to stop reading it about 30% through. Not because it is bad, I love it. I stupidly read the ending and need to know what comes next, I NEED book 2. While I wait, I figured I should try out your other works. Which would you recommend starting with, Broken Empire or Red Queen?
Mark Lawrence
Ouch! **falls to his knees and screams "Whyyyyyyyyyy?" at the sky**
Moving on...
They are very different trilogies, both to each other and to the Book of the Ancestor.
Prince of Thorns starts a story that is dark and violent and focuses on a character who would be the villain of many stories.
Prince of Fools is set in the same world and time. It starts a story about a cowardly layabout of a prince who is dragged into adventure against his will. It contains darkness and violence, but also plenty of laughs.
If you've no preference then start with Prince of Thorns as it will make the crossover references in Prince of Fools more fun.

Hey Mark! Love Love Love the Prince of Thorns series. And the ending! So I'm just starting the second book of your second series. I know it was a conscious choice to lighten the story with a tongue in cheek narration.. Or perhaps he just spoke to you that way? Lol Couple questions: how have you found the feedback vs a grittier tone? The story is no lighter than the Prince series, but the tone is altogether diff.

OK. I'm not sure I want to know or not but... I just started Red Sister and I was thinking this story is in the same world as Broken Empire..actually I thought it was the story of the story of Jal's grandmother or grand aunt. Am I wrong? or do I even want to know?
(Forgive me but I have hard time remembering character names.)
