Hi Heather! What made you want to become a young adult author and when did you decide to become one?
Heather Demetrios
I decided to become a YA author not long after finishing Twilight (before that, I was thinking I would write adult and middle grade). I just got so hooked on those books and had a massive book hangover. Then I realized the only cure to a book hangover is to write a book yourself. But the main reason I decided to become a YA author is that I love the genre and the chance to actually make a difference in people's lives. YA books reach so many readers at a time when their whole lives are stretched out before them. It's an honor to connect those readers to stories about things I care about. And it's an honor to be there for them when they reach out. I think YA as a genre is so important and vital and I really think it's changing the lives of so many young people who get inspired by what they read. Also, it's just really FUN and I love the fandom.

Hi Heather! Just wanted to say I absolutely LOVED I'll Meet You There and growing up in a small military town I can definitely say you got the emotions and sometimes PTSD that the soldiers are afflicted with spot on. Did you serve, live in a military town, or just know someone who had been affected in the same way Josh had?
