Liz Try reading an online synopsis of the book. That's what helped me. There are "spoilers," but that hardly matters in this case, because what makes "Neuromancer" so great is it's atmosphere, world and characters. Having plot turns given away for you is a small price to pay for being able to immerse yourself in this book. It took me two tries to get fully through the book, but it was fully worth it.
