I loved the world you created for The Eternal Sky Trilogy, especially the fascinating women who inhabited it. Will the upcoming book "The Stone in the Skull" include a few such women?

Elizabeth Bear I certainly hope so! The points of view are evenly divided among men and women, at least, and I find it interesting to write from the perspective of people often marginalized and ignored by the historical record--to show their agency, and illuminate some of how they affect and perceive the world.

I was recommended to read your books when I asked in a forum for favorite fantasy books that pass the Bechdel test. There were many good suggestions, including your works. Something I miss, being a fantasy fan, are realistic depictions of friendships between women but you have those aplenty. What about you - do you have favorite books that pass that test? Or at the least that appear to be populated by 50% or so women?
