A Goodreads user asked this question about Into the Water:
Is it just me or is Into the Water hard to read because its so jumbled with all characters? I can't grasp the whole plot because I am always confused where its going.

I felt like I kept having to look at the first page to remind myself who was who until I was more than halfway through the book! I was reading it on vacation, so I was able to read for several hours a day and finish the book reading it over several consecutive days and even THEN I feel like so much time would go by between narrations of each character I would need to jog my memory of who they were....I couldn't even imagine being able to follow the book if I read it the way I typically have to read books (where there can be several days or even at times weeks between when I am able to read for pleasure).

It also drove me crazy that some of the characters narrated from first person and others third person! Also, since they jumped around so much from character to character it kind of resulted in me not being particularly invested in any of the characters, and not really liking any of them, and therefore not really caring about any of them, ha.
