Goodreads asked Michael Finocchiaro:

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Michael Finocchiaro Great question, thanks!

I am finishing some biographies of awful people: Volker Ullrich's Hitler Ascent (1887-1939) and Mussolini by either Bosworth or Hibbert (haven't decided yet but always welcome for recommendations) as well as Gary Atkinson's trilogy about WWII (I am 25% of the way through volume 2).

Then, I am going to continue enjoying Richard Russo's Everybody's Fool.
Since I will be spending nearly a month in Sicily, I have John Julius Norwich's Sicily and Simonetta Angela Hornby's The Almond Picker on my short list.

My big challenge will be attacking James Joyce's Finnegan's Wake aided by both Joseph Campbell's Skeleton Key to FW and William York Tindall's Readers Guide to FW.

Another side project which I keep putting off is re-reading Shakespeare's plays in the Oxford Complete Works alongside the aforementioned John Julius Norwich's Shakespeare's Kings.

Probably will also finish Scott Snyder's Batman (New 52) series as I still have not read vols 9 or 10 and the 4th volume of Descender when it comes out in July.

Oh, I also wanted to read the new thriller American War from first-time author Omar El Akkad as well.
