Mwanamali asked Josh Lanyon:

Do you often find yourself adding traits of yourself in the characters you write? If so, which of your characters is a lot like you, in any way...?

Josh Lanyon Ha! Well, every author does to some extent, even when you try not to. You can't really hide your own sense of humor, for example.

That said, I would make an extremely boring protagonist, so I tend to base my characters on people I know or people I come across in my research.

Which is to say, I take a little bit of this psyche and a little bit of that history, and come up with people who seem very real, but are not based on any one recognizable person.
