Annie asked Penelope Douglas:

How did you find your editor? Any tips to give?

Penelope Douglas Hey!

I'm the worst person to ask about that. My editor is a friend who's published before and written books. She's been a part of peer writing groups and just knows her way around. She wasn't an editor, but she edited my stuff and continues to do my indie titles.

There are lots of editors in the community, though. I would just post for recommendations and try a few. They should offer to do a five page sample for free, for example, and you can see what their feedback looks like, what they charge, and if they're available. Just make sure the editor is honest. You don't want someone who blows sunshine up your butt, just because they don't want to offend you. The editor's job is to let you know what readers are going to have a problem with, so you can have a chance to fix it before you publish it. If they don't do that, then it's doing you a disservice.

Thanks for the question!
