Stacey Reynolds asked Stacey Reynolds:

Question from an fan on messenger: How long does it take you to write each book?

Stacey Reynolds This is a question passed on from messenger. It's a tricky question, because I'm always writing. If I am not at the computer, it's swirling around in my head. I write in my head every night before I drift off to sleep. I can't help it. But the simple answer is about four months for the first draft. That seems fast, but that's the actual key board time. I research ahead of time, I plot it out in my head, then at some point I say "go!" Once I start the prologue or first chapter, I plug away at least ten hours a week until I'm done. Maybe more. And that first draft is just the beginning. I only have one beta reader that reads that draft, because it is ugly and unedited. I've been thinking about book 4 for probably six months. I can't actually sit down and write it yet. Too much going on with the book releases ahead of that one, but the continuing story of the O'Briens never really stops for me. The hard part is the editing, the rewrites, the additions and subtractions. The cover design, the formatting, all of that takes way longer than the three to four months. If I hit a school break in the middle, I have to set it aside for a few days which is maddening. I just can't be productive when everyone is home.
