I have two strategies. First, keep writing. Like a muscle, if you stop, your creative atrophy only gets worse, not better. You might not be entirely satisfied with the results, but some effort is always better than none.
Second, I step away and check out other artist's work. The world is filled will creative people with perspectives and voices so removed from your own; if that does not inspire you, then you are dead inside and you should not be writing in the first place. Be an engineer or politician or CPA.
Third-play lots of video games. No, find the thing in your life that energizes you to break through the block. You's gots to have creative kung fu.
And no I can't count, that's why I write. No numbers. Unless this is all base 36 numeric.

Thank you for the information and I am so glad that I am not a weak minded fool with a fool hearty dream. I have had many jobs just to "survive" in this world and unfortunately ended up disabled. Too much time on my hands and read with hands 'itching' to join the world of fantasy. Would you ever do a book signing in Northeast TN, BAM in Johnson City, TN.? About 30 min. from my home.

I was born and raised part of my life in NorthEast Oregon. Wallowa County and lived most of my childhood in Lostine, OR. I loved to fish in Wallowa Lake in Joseph, OR. If the national park service has not moved it you will see the burial site of Chief Joseph. My question is where do you get your ideas and how do you develop them? My genre that I am reading is Fantasy with the mythology of the Scots and Irish.

Thank you for the information. Now can you tell me how to get over the fear of someone stealing your work? As you can tell I am working on this project and am hoping that I am good enough to finish and maybe make some money. If I make a name then so much the better. Nope, I do not have an ego problem unless you want to say that I am paranoid of losing something that is hard work. Thanks, Fellow Oregonian
