Dude: MONSTER, first of a trilogy, coming in October. It's sort of a sequel in that it takes place in the same GONE universe 4 years after LIGHT. But it's a mix of old and new characters, and it goes in a different direction - more open-ended. I'm seeing it as 'pre-dystopia.' In other words instead of being like Divergent, say, which comes post-collapse of civilization, I'm basically showing civilization's collapse and the rise of a new, dangerous, and very weird world.

One thing I really love about your series is how there are no cardboard-cut-out characters. Everyone matters, you care whenever someone dies and they all seem like people that you might have known a couple years ago... As a writer myself, how do you make the reader care and empathize with all of your characters, not just the most important ones?
