Miranda July would be a good choice. She writes quirky narrators and situations like no one else. I thought of her a lot while reading The Idiot.
I'd also recommend Anthropology of an American Girl by Hilary Thayer Hamann. It features a deeply introspective narrator, beautiful writing, and keen observations.
Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld isn't as quirky, but is another you might enjoy.

Either of Ottessa Moshfegh's novels (Eileen and My Year of Rest and Relaxation). I find her style very similar to Batuman's, albeit more grotesque.
Anne
Another coming of age book with an intelligent, not very likeable young woman as a main character is Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney. I really liked that one.
