Did you consult any sort of abuse/domestic violence agency while researching the book?

B.A. Paris I used the internet mostly for my research and read many first-hand accounts of psychological abuse from (mainly) women who had managed to get away from their partners. Their stories were often harrowing, especially as they had remained silent for many years, thinking that no-one would believe them if they spoke about what was happening to them behind closed doors. Psychological abuse is notoriously difficult to prove as there are no bruises, no external signs to prove what is happening. But it's important that victims of this kind of abuse realise that there is help out there.
