Is the whole thing with Agent Nicole deliberately vague at the end? We're not supposed to know yet who she spoke to and what she set in motion (except vaguely to take Gamache down), right? And then he sets something in motion but we don't know what? It's the only part I found aggravating.

I kept thinking I’d missed something but in reading your question, I realized somebody else had the same feeling I had. I hate loose ends. The other loose end was never understanding the comment El made to Clara about her art being good. Oh well, I’ll still keep reading the Gamache series.(less)
