Goodreads asked Amber Ivers:

How do you get inspired to write?

Amber Ivers I've always loved writing. I would write my nightmares into stories all through elementary school. I stopped in seventh grade after a friend of mine stole my stories and got credit for them, in class and in a contest. One day I overheard my children talking about how broke we were and that they would never be able to do their dreams. It broke my heart to hear them. So, I decided to prove to them that it didn't matter what life through at you, the only thing that will keep you down is yourself. I also wanted them to know that they could do whatever they wanted as long as they set their mind to it. So, I wrote a nightmare that I had three days straight down on a piece of paper. I read it to them and I asked them, if I took that nightmare and made it a story, would they believe me when I told them they could do whatever they wanted to in life? They said that if I wrote it and sold three of them, they would believe me. So, I set out to write that story, one day at a time, fifteen pages a day. With no idea how the story was going to go, I wrote it. The nightmare is the first few pages of that story and my kids did the editing. I wanted them to feel as involved until my daughter became a little emotional about how I ended it and demanded that I change it so she can be happy with the ending. Well, I sold three of them. Now, I have one in the army and one in college working on her bachelor in science for RN, and in her drama fun, and my other two with their minds on the future. It may not be the best story but it is worth every word to me.
