Does Charlie have autism? I just started reading, but I'm kind of getting that vibe, the way he writes, how he's in his own world, how other people treat him, etc.

Avery Skipper It is never hinted at that he may be autistic, and I believe it would be stated or at least alluded to if Stephen Chbosky intended it to be. I think that that vibe that you're getting is a result of childhood trauma causing a lack of emotional maturity.
Saf Yeah, Charlie has autism but form an autistic POV, i guess it makes the book that little bit more interesting and beautiful, in a way.
Jean St.Amand In my opinion, NO, Charlie is not anywhere on the autism spectrum.
