Goodreads asked Nicole E. Kelleher:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Nicole E. Kelleher My mom once told me a story about her father. When he was stationed in Europe during WWII, he was walking near a train station. As the train pulled away, a female passenger threw an object out the window to him. It was a clunky bracelet made of some unidentifiable metal alloy. The half-dollar sized decoration was mounted with a star sapphire and hid a secret compartment underneath. My maternal grandfather was never able to determine who the woman was and why she tossed the bracelet to him.
