A Goodreads user
asked:
Does anyone else see the parallels between Craig Binky and the current president? How about Pearly Soames desire for a golden room and photographs of a certain apartment?

I just came upon this question because I'm reading the book for the 4th (or is it 5th?) time, the first time since that fraud has occupied the White House. The parallels are beyond striking. Classic examples: Binky is supposed to be giving a testimonial speech about someone and all he talks about is himself. ("He always liked me.", "He thought I was great.") He's further described by a character who says, "...he had never encountered a soul more intensely marinated in self-satisfaction."
There can be no question that Binky is Trump right up to the euphemistically described "inexact intelligence."

Frighteningly familiar - however Craig Binky was more palatable!
