This is an amazing question. So, okay, I don't believe in ghosts at all. But once, in a hotel in Venice, Italy, I saw what can only be described as a ghost. It was a totally inexplicable visual phenomenon that I'd never experienced before and haven't experienced since. It wasn't anyone I know and it's never happened again. I completely remember what this... whatever you want to call it—apparition?—looked like and even in the few seconds I saw it were clues about its provenance. I moved out of the hotel in the morning and never went back. But... it could totally be the plot of a book. Maybe I'll write it one day.

Elan, How do you as a writer get yourself into character to write as one of your protagonist or antagonists in your books? I have often wondered that about older adults who write for ages 13-18 year olds. Do you talk to many teenagers about their lives, hang out with them, etc.? I am a writer too and write Memoir and that is easy because I am writing what I know. I think it would be hard to write YA. Thanks, Anne
