Thanks for the question, but I have lived a plain and ordinary life except in my imagination. The mystery is that there are no mysteries. So how about a novel about a plain and ordinary man, who was happy, got married and had children and grandchildren, and didn't do booze or drugs, didn't break the law, didn't chase loose women. You name it and I didn't do it. My God this is boring. Are you still reading this stuff? You must have something better to do, like staying connected to an auto phone line for half an hour after they have assured you that they really do value your call. That's it folks. Thank you and goodnight.

Does the character Kate feature in all the Fletcher series books or is she killed off (hopefully) ? I only ask as I have nearly finished Fletchers Fortune and I greatly fear that there will be a romantic angle intruding into the series and it felt a bit woke having her onboard too. Also there was a reference to the 1854 Charge of Light Brigade which I thought was a bit weird as the book was set in 1793 !

I bought Fletchers fortune by pure chance over 20 yrs ago in early 1990s; softback, slightly promoted (as they do with dozens of books) on one of the many prominent tables dotted around in a book shop. I read it, loved it; I immediately bought 1st June (loved it too). In goodreads, Fletchers Fortune has a published year of 2015. All very confusing, misleading - it is the exact same book though? You are JC Edwards? Thx

Hi John ,loved all the Jacob Fletcher books, however, the grammar in all four books was to say the least poor. In particular the use of the American phrase "off of" which appeared frequently to give significant irritation! "He got off of the boat","He got off of his horse" .etc.etc. Is this the intervention of the proof readers who are maybe aiming at a Stateside audience ?John.
