Goodreads asked Mari Serebrov:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Mari Serebrov While my life is pretty much mystery free, my family history has enough mystery to keep me writing for years. When I was in college, I wrote a short story inspired by my great-grandmother's suicide. Now that I've experienced more of life, I'd like to revisit that mystery with a more realistic take on it. Bertha was 24 when she shot herself the day before my grandmother's sixth birthday. The accepted theory was that she was suffering from post-partem depression -- she had a 2-week-old baby, as well as two sons younger than Grandma. Of course, Grandma wanted to believe it was an accident.
