Goodreads asked Rene D. Schultz:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Rene D. Schultz Most authors write from what they know... what they've learned...and all of life's experiences. I write from the depth of my early childhood and the emotional questions that popped up later in life. All my books take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

I had a very dysfunctional/loveless childhood with parents who never connected with their children. My only reprieve was watching my friend's families and what 'normalcy' really was. It made me feel empty but taught me so many life changing lessons. The most important lesson my parents taught me was... 'what not to be' with my own children.

My first book Bishop Street was about orphans... and their struggle to survive in life/the dichotomy of friendship and family/value of self worth...these were areas I found in my wheelhouse of emotions.

All my books give interesting scenarios in the twists of life. Many of which a lot of my readers can relate to. I write the 'reality' of life and how to survive it.
