Goodreads asked Bey Deckard:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Bey Deckard Maybe not "mystery" per se, but the constant, unbelievable coincidences I experience could make for a good plot vehicle. From as far back as I can remember, coincidences happen so often to me that it barely fazes me when the woman at the ticket counter turns out to have grown up in the same small town my parents did or the guy sitting across from me on the train happens to be the author of the textbook I'm reading. And it has a sort of an environmental effect—as soon as people start spending a lot of time with me, they start experiencing a surge in coincidences.

I have to be careful about it when I write non-fantasy/paranormal because what I consider standard occurrences are definitely bizarre for most people.

I've already played with strange flukes a bit with Jon (Baal's Heart). Are the things that happen to him pure coincidence? Is there something the universe is trying to tell him? Is he crazy? Is he clairvoyant? *grin* For sure, I will continue to investigate that when Baal's Heart sails again.
