I have a friend who was finally published after 25 dedicated years to her writing. How long was it for you before your first book was published? Did it seem much, much longer?

Glynnis Campbell I spent about 20 years playing with my first book, more as a hobby than anything, until I finally decided to try to get it published. Once I took it seriously--listening to advice, taking competent criticism, and rewriting--I was published within a few years (after 35 rejection letters!). It didn't seem long, because for most of those years, I only wrote for fun.
