Annie Belyak There was not enough passion... Lydgate didn't want to marry but fell for the pretty-pretty Rosy? Dorothea didn't want to remarry because she knew the one person she liked was not available... They were too interested in their freedom to do whatever they liked to marry unless it was a real passion and none existed between them.
But Dorothea seems like a woman who would mold herself according to her husband's need as long as she can feel that will serve to help him do some good to the world. She would have been a good wife to any kind person with a passion to some discovery or business...
