James Dewar
James Dewar asked S.M. Boyce:

I have noticed that your work has been influenced in particular by JRR Tolkien who is an author I really like because he has really clever descriptions and vivid imagination brought into the stories he crafted as far as the imaginary worlds are concerned. What was it that persuaded you to follow in his footsteps when you chose to write books that follow this particular genre as he did?

S.M. Boyce Hey James!

Tolkien is a huge influence on me, yes! Especially the Hobbit. I think he inspires me so much because I can just lose myself in the intricate and descriptive story he created. There's magic around every corner, and the magic system he created leaves you wondering what could happen next. His world is so expansive that you never TRULY feel like you've seen it all, and I think that's the hallmark of a truly engaging magical world... it's one you could easily spend the rest of your life in.

P.S. I'm SO sorry I didn't respond sooner. I didn't get a notification about your question! Thank you for being patient & wonderful ❤
