I want to know how you start a book. Is it a fully blown idea or just a snippet of an experience or a thought. I like to write stuff for myselfand often have trouble with the first idea and then flush it out. is that how it is done?

Every author does it differently. I tend to get a "what if" scenario in my head... What if a hunter accidentally shot and wounded a woman who was a fugitive and then had to harbor her out of guilt? What if an exiled Scottish princess found a Viking invader washed up on her shore? What if a female Robin Hood tried to rob her secret betrothed?
