Yuting asked Stuart Gibbs:

OMG your books are awesome!!! I have read almost all of them. So my friend and I are working on this fan fiction of Harry Potter. Can you give us some advice on describing the surrounding and stuff? Because we both aren't really good at that. And I know a good book needs a lot of details! Thank you for patiently reading this and I hope you will reply soon!

Stuart Gibbs The best advice I could give is find descriptive passages you like and do your best to emulate them. Don't copy them. Emulate them. (And technically, it's wrong to say that a good book needs lots of details. There are books that are very good with very spare prose.)
