Goodreads asked Elizabeth T Ward:

How do you get inspired to write?

Elizabeth T Ward I get inspired by all sorts of things -- experiences from my past, places I've visited, people I've met, conversations I've had, the news. I think novelists are like insects in the sense that we have very long antenna; we're always experiencing life in a heightened way, attuned to many nuances that are extremely rich and subtle at the same time. Writing stories allows us to take all of that input and turn it into something new and cohesive. To me, novels are like diorama you see in museums: contained boxes with glass fronts, edited by a curator, representative of life.
