Hi! I just wanted to write you a quick note to tell you that I love your books. Ella Enchanted is one of my very favorite books. I first read it around 4th grade, and I've reread it every year or two since then (and I'm 26 now!). I love your heroines, your wit, and your enchanting storytelling. I just wanted to say thank you! My question: Which of your books was the most difficult or time-consuming to write?

Gail Carson Levine Thank you! STOLEN MAGIC, my second book about Meenore, the detective dragon, and Elodie, ITs assistant, was hardest and took longest--4 1/2 years--than any other book. I had beginner's luck with the first book, A TALE OF TWO CASTLES, but--for me--mysteries are tricky to write.
