I love what pops into your brain at the oddest moments -- the whole deal with vlad the impaler -- exactly the right time frame -- karen said, well, back then they copied a whole lot of manuscripts, the abby was poor and so the voynich papers were cheaply done. isn't she a genius? I GUESS YOU WANT A QUESTION; OKAY, WHAT IS THE VERY FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR COMPUTER TO BEGIN WRITING?

J.T. Ellison That's one of my favorite emails ever... more later. Now, to answer, the first thing I do is... check my email. Which is a terrible way to begin writing! But once that's done, I go back over the pages I wrote the day before, and edit them. Then, when I'm caught up, I get a fresh cup of tea and get started.

I read your novella in Brenda Novak's Sweet Dreams compilation and really enjoyed it. I've since read All the Pretty Girls and am reading 14 right now. I just wanted to thank you for including a story in Sweet Dreams since all the money raised is for diabetes research! My question is: are you friends with other authors who write the same genre of books, or does competition keep you apart?
