Goodreads asked Katherine M. Pickett:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Katherine M. Pickett My one overarching piece of advice for writers is, Don't be in a rush. Take the time to do the research you need. Build your marketing platform. Hone your craft. Be willing to set the manuscript aside for a week or more between revisions to give yourself perspective. Then spend as much time revising as needed until you have taken the manuscript as far as you can on your own. Rushing the process will only end up costing you time and money in the long run.
