Do readers who did not live through the decades of the 50s and 60s find the historical detailing a bit tedious in this realistic novel? Did you find yourself skipping parts, perhaps whole paragraphs?

I did skim the long sports parts and maybe some of the radical happenings in Newark and at Columbia because they became tedious. I still respected what Auster did. I just didn't have the patience. I think it is a whole new experience to research these incidents and even for me, living through them, it is a whole new world of facts and info.(less)
