After receiving so much backlash from the article he wrote regarding Chris's death, I believe he wanted to be the voice for Chris and to give readers a reasoning for Chris's actions. Throughout the book he ties in other stories where individuals have ventured off into the wild and were never heard from again. He connects the dots and forms conclusions similar to Chris's reasoning for disappearing from society. Also in the book it talks about Krakauer's experience as an adolescence. The author and Chris shared some similarities. The author grew up spending time in the wild. He stated in the book that he climbed Mt. Everest alone and almost was near death. He also didn't get along with his father. It is a very remarkable and touching story. I really enjoyed the book.
