Can anyone tell me if books in this series can be read as stand-alone books? We have a few donations for our public library, like Taken (#15) but I don't have the rest... Thanks!

The series really starts with Elvis Cole with Joe Pike providing backup to Cole in many situations. There are fewer books from Joe Pike's primary perspective. You could read any individually but you would get more from the reading by understanding the perspective of the series. Different books along the way have given insight into the two characters that would certainly help in understanding how and why they react as they do.(less)
