E.M.
E.M. asked Shannon Leone Fowler:

I'm loving your book. It's really staying with me if you know what I mean. I am really bothered by how Sean's family acted towards you. I don't understand their reaction. Do you have any explanation for it?

Shannon Leone Fowler Hi Elaine.
Thanks so much for your message and for your question.
I think one of the most important lessons I learned after Sean’s death was that everyone grieves differently, and there is no right way or wrong way to grieve. Sean’s parents had just lost their twenty-five-year-old son, suddenly and unexpectedly. Now that I am a mother, I can think of absolutely nothing worse. In the face of devastating loss, we all just do the best we can, and I don't think anyone should ever be judged for that.
I am not sure if you have finished the book yet, but I come to understanding this at the end.
Thanks again so much for reading and for your comments.
Best, Shannon
