Goodreads asked R.M. Garino:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

R.M. Garino The idea of writer's block itself is a fiction. It assumes that the words exist outside of the self, perhaps floating around somewhere in the ether; that there is a magical conduit that flows from this place of words into your own mind; that for some reason unbeknownst to you, the valve has been turned off.

The scary part is that this is all happening in your head. Those voices are real. So let them talk, even if it blows your story to pieces or in a new direction. The words might not exist out there, but the story does have a life of its own.

Better yet, just write, even if it is forced and trite. That's why we rewrite and edit.
