Suzumyiaharuhi asked Craig Schaefer:

Hi Craig, I've loved all the Daniel Faust novels. My favorite character is Caitlin. What influenced you to write her character?

Craig Schaefer Thank you! Starting from an idea of a modernized, almost corporate vision of hell, it raised the question of what a woman who had clawed her way from nothing to the peak of her career would look like in that system. Caitlin is very much a small-town girl who worked her way to the top (and still has to deal with people who think she found a shortcut, after putting in endless blood, sweat and tears to earn what she has).

I'm also very interested, as a storyteller, in themes of duty, service and devotion. Caitlin is absolutely devoted to her prince, her people, and hell's cause. Which, when that cause conflicts with her human friends and allies, sets the stage for all kinds of fun problems. :)
