Hey girls, it 1:43 am and im drowning in anxiety and overthinking. Last time I shared that I was dealing with depression and today I feel brave enough to share the reason of my sadness. I know this app isn’t for venting and if you’re not interested im totally fine with but if you choose to bear with me and read this than thank you in advance 💕. As this is very sensitive and I can’t share it with my family or friends, I thought strangers on the internet are the best choice. So my story is actually about childhood trauma caused by s*xual harassment. In my case it was from 3 different people. First time was when I was 4 and an older cousin who was 18 or bigger. Second time was was with another cousin who was 2 years older than me, I was under the age of 11. And the last one was in second grade primary school with a boy who used to sit next to me who liked to keep his hand on my stuff:) now at my age i can’t stop blaming myself for not saying no, even though I was uncomfortable i didn’t exactly know what was happening or that that thing was wrong i had no idea, especially that i trusted those people i thought we were just playing. Now I reached a point where i imagine them reaching out to my parents saying im dirty that i did that with my consent, my parents are very strict and we live in a strict society. I also think about if I should tell my partner, what if he knows about it somehow, how can I prove that I was a victim and most importantly how can I convince myself that I was a victim :( sorry i know this was a lot and thank you sm for reading this. Hey! I hope you are having an amazing day. I just wanted to let you know that my friend published a book and it would mean a lot to her if you bought it. Please don’t feel pressured to, you don’t have to. The book is called I’m okay, really by Arushie Aggarwal and it follows Helen who is recovering from the lost of her best friend and makes the decision to investigate her murder. It’s clean and kind of a coming of age story with a bit of mystery too. I’ve already read it and it was amazing! It’s not on Goodreads yet but it’s on Amazon for $13. So, I usually accept almost every friend request because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings (hello, highly sensitive person here 🙋‍♀️). But I just peeked at my list and—boom—1200+ friends?! Like, when did that happen?? 👀

My tired, lazy self can’t bring myself to go through and unfriend anyone—especially since no one’s ever sent me anything creepy or ghosted me (those are basically the only reasons I’ve ever unfriended people here 😭🤣).

What was I saying again? 🤔 …oh, right! Feel free to unfriend me if you're not looking to interact—I totally understand. Or hey, you could follow me instead (though I honestly have no idea why anyone would, my reviews are a chaotic mess lol).

sorry for the poll again but I wrote an essay thingy for the theatre program and I wanted some feedback! here it is: My name is Alex, and I am interested in the Critical Review program. Throughout my life so far, I have done a lot of writing, not just for academics, but also for fun and to be creative. Since a young age, I have written stories about my friends and characters I have created, and I want to be able to write more expansively in terms of the kinds of writing I am capable of. I think reviewing would be a very fun and rewarding experience, not just for improving my writing, but to express my opinions and feelings towards things (in this case, theatre productions). One of my biggest things with writing is that people with different perspectives on life write different stories that expand other people’s world view. This is especially true in writing reviews, where the piece is essentially just your opinion on a piece of art. I will try my best to put my own personal experiences into my writing pieces and reviews.
Speaking of that, I can bring many different perspectives to the group because I am queer, and I also have a lot of previous music experience, which will help me understand and appreciate the music in shows and to help incorporate it into my reviews. My queerness can also offer a different perspective on things, because I’ve lived a different life and see things differently than others. Going back to my music experience, I’ve played the piano for about 10 years now, even though I took a break during the pandemic, and I’ve sung in choirs since I was a little kid. I still participate in choir and other musical programs, and they are a big part of my life and identity.
Finally, I would like to say what I want and hope to learn from this experience. One of my biggest hopes that I would gain from this program is to be able to write better and in various different ways. Another thing is to be able to experience some of the greatest art pieces of theatre ever created, especially as someone who wants to dip their toes a bit deeper into the world of theatre and art. But most importantly, I would love to just experience new things and be a more creative and imaginative person. Theatre and writing are just a few of the most important ways to express yourself and your own ideas and creativity, and I hope to be able to hone my skills and express myself better through the workshops and advice that this program will give me. I thank you for this opportunity, and hope you will consider me for the Critical Review program.
