I would have liked Christopher Plummer and Peter Cushing to be an option, but among these I'm voting for Brett.

I would have thought Cumberbatch would have been a runaway with this ... :)
I must confess not having watched the series "Sherlock" because I'm a codger who does not like the idea of taking Sherlock Holmes into modern times with internet and cellphones.
I love Jeremy Brett but it's painful for me to watch the last Granada episodes. I'm sorry but Benedict takes this one; he is, at least at this point in time, outstanding.
I agree, Peter Cushing should have been an option. He is definitely the second best, in my humble opinion. I respect Cumberbatch as an actor, but a modern Sherloch holmes is just eye cancer for me, so I dont watch it.
I absolutely love Benedict Cumberbatch in 'Sherlock', but I think that Basil Rathbone played Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes the best.

Jeremy Brett is great, but I absolutely have to give it to Clive Merrison. He not only did the ENTIRE canon, but additional Sherlock works as well.If you've not listened to the series, you are missing out.
