Cheri I actually want to read every one of these. I imagine I'll change my vote 3 or 4 times...

message 2: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight Crap I can pick just one. I did read 96 hours it was pretty good.

message 3: by Cheri (new)

Cheri See, already changed it.

message 4: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter No brainer for me. Code Name Verity is amazing.

message 5: by f (new)

f Cari wrote: "No brainer for me. Code Name Verity is amazing."

You haven't read the other 5! They might be equally amazing.

(I agree about Code Name Verity though :-)

message 6: by Adrian (new)

Adrian I really liked 96 Hours. I'd like to see what others thought...kind of a tricky one.

message 7: by nancyjean (new)

nancyjean Ooooo, this is a close race!

message 8: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Ok there is too many good books for this selection. I can see the book budget expanding this month.

message 9: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight I will most likely read more than one of these.

message 10: by Cheri (new)

Cheri And then there's Sex Month on the forum, too, Nancy Jean... Although, we can do plenty of online fics for that.

message 11: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Code Name Verity had me on the first line of the blurb. I'm gonna check on the forum this month. Im more likely to read a book with sex in it than not.

message 12: by Cheri (new)

Cheri We set up a thread under the reading section, Jenny.

message 13: by f (new)

f Jenny wrote: "Code Name Verity had me on the first line of the blurb."

It's never going to win the BotM poll, but read it anyway! It's not flawless but it's far and away the most original thing I've read this year. Just don't read ANY reviews of it beforehand, because it's almost impossible to review it without giving away spoilers.

message 14: by Jenny (new)

Jenny I didn't vote for it but I probably will read it.

message 15: by Cheri (new)

Cheri After the poll is over, we can set up a buddy read for it. Sounds like there's definitely interest. And maybe we can get Megan to live up to her Queen of the Buddy Reads title.

message 16: by f (new)

f Perhaps she's busy with the Month of Sex already...

message 17: by Cheri (new)

Cheri She's abandon us on the forum so, really, she has no excuses.

message 18: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Yeah thats probably why she was to busy to hangout Saturday.lol

message 19: by Jenifer (new)

Jenifer Hmmm. This one is hard! I just finished Code Name Verity (my heart hurts right now but was an amazing book Imo), I really liked 96 Hours, and the rest sound good too.

message 20: by Jenny (new)

Jenny I really hate to read things that make me cry so I might have to wait a bit on Verity

message 21: by f (new)

f It made Cari cry like a girl! (her description)

A Question of Ghosts is two points ahead but coming into the home stretch there's still all to play for... I'd like it to win, actually. I want to know what other people think of it.

message 22: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I'm changing my vote. Code Name Verity sounds amazing.

message 23: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Well I better wait because whenever I'm PMSing it doesn't take much for me before I cry like a little girl when I'm reading a book.

message 24: by Jenifer (new)

Jenifer Jenny wrote: "Well I better wait because whenever I'm PMSing it doesn't take much for

You will definitely cry like a little girl. I finished it hours ago and I'm still sad.

message 25: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter It made Cari cry like a girl! (her description)

I didn't just cry, I sobbed, snotted and did that thing where you can't actually breathe for a while.

I wish I'd written it.

message 26: by Nikki (new)

Nikki How could anyone turn that down? I mean, really.

message 27: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter Yeah, it was really attractive. This was at about 7 in the morning as well ("I'll just read this next chapter, then I'll get up...") Ferox nearly took the damn thing off me!

message 28: by Nikki (new)

Nikki You can't interrupt that kind of misery. Kate's always trying to turn off that damn humane society commercial

message 29: by Cheri (new)

Cheri I don't think I can handle that sort of sad right now.

message 30: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Sounds like a depression-filled buddy read to me! Woohoo!

message 31: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Well I changed my vote to that so if its picked I will be ready to read it in a week or two

message 32: by nancyjean (new)

nancyjean Please don't make me cry.

message 33: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter Nikki: You can't interrupt that kind of misery. Kate's always trying to turn off that damn humane society commercial

You can't beat a good, snotty cry every now and again. Bizarrely, the book made me LOL more than it made me cry, which is quite incredible given its premise. I would love to do a buddy read for it. I don't care if it gets BoTM, I just want people to read it (and then chat about it later!)

message 34: by f (new)

f It didn't make me cry, cos I'm a cold-hearted cow. Actually I found it uplifting. The triumph of the human spirit and all that... What someone will do for the woman they love, or just because it's the right thing to do, or just because they're too bloody stubborn not to.

message 35: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Ugh. I changed my damn vote for the 5th or 6th time. Verity does sound really good. And I think it would make for great discussion.

message 36: by Jenny (new)

Jenny That's what I was thinking.

message 37: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight I will not fall prey to peer pressure.

message 38: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter This is all very entertaining. It's like watching the Eurovision Song Contest ;-)

message 39: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Stay strong!!! I don't think my change can qualify for peer pressure since I have voted for all but one of the books suggested at one time or another since the poll opened. The only one I haven't voted for yet is the one in first place. I'm an underdog sort of woman.

message 40: by Cab (new)

Cab Such a tough choice all but one are on my to read or have already read list.

message 41: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Oh, Cari, what's that? Is it something we can vote on in a poll on the forum?

message 42: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Ooh Verity is catching up :)

message 43: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter Oh, Cari, what's that? Is it something we can vote on in a poll on the forum?

Yes! When it comes around next (it's not long since been held). It's a terrible cheese-fest of a competition involving the Euro nations (and some not-so Euro nations) in an all-singing, all dancing, pyrotechnic, contest of sheer cringe. One of Ferox's friends almost ended up in a coma after drinking a shot from every country entering last year. It would make for the most fabulous drinking game.

PS - what happens if this vote is a tie? Sudden death? Some kind of duel?

message 44: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight Yeah what happens if there is a tie?

message 45: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Pie throwing at 10 paces.

We had a tie once before (Salbine Sisters and Sword of the Guardian) and we listed both books as Books of the Month.

message 46: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter What a waste of pies! Unless we get to eat them as well as chuck them.

message 47: by Cheri (new)

Cheri You can eat whatever hits you. I think that's only fair.

message 48: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Maybe it should be pie throwing at 5 paces. Just far enough not to be hurt by the pan.

message 49: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight If you make a good enough crust it can always be removed from pan before the throwing.

message 50: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Damn, I really want some pie.
