I like the iPad. Having it backlit all the time is great and I like that I can change the font size. I don't own another reader, however since using this one I wouldn't use any others.
There are other kinds of "ipads" you know, they are called tablets! anyway....I voted ebook for my Sony PRS-T1 and because i don't want my eyes melt reading on a tablet.
I am a huge fan of the pared-down, black and white kindle. It is SO LIGHT and sturdy I would never trade it for an iPad.
I love reading on my Nook--the e ink is so like a page that I forget it is not a real paper book. I have read on the iPad but my eyes rebel after too long.
It's easier for me to see the writing on my ipad- plus, it has color, which my kindle doesn't. However, I do love my kindle, especially because it doesn't glare.
I have both a Kindle Touch and a new iPad. Both are great for reading. The new retina display really brought the iPad closer to the Kindle in reading quality except of course in direct sunlight or other brightly lit areas. So nowadays I find myself reading more on the iPad, specially for being a LOT easier to add notes or highlight something.
I really enjoy using my Kindle! Don't get me wrong about reading on the iPad. For some serious (block out the world) book time I prefer Kindle. Because it doesn't have all my distracting playtime and social apps. But for my light reading like articles, blogs, e-mail, book reviews, various cookbooks and my goodreads app I prefer the company of my iPad.
I would be hard pressed to give up either. And if I had to choose for the proverbial "If you could only take three things to a wifi enabled island question, I would include both... The third being... a food processor...
I don't know how its supposed to get any easier than kindle. You are directly inside the book you are reading when you start it and you can turn pages with simple buttons which are on both sides for comfort. The only improvement would be an eyesensor that would let you turn pages without hands.
Hands Down, I Love My Kindle Fire The Most! An added benefit is that I am not expected to buy another one every six months like the iPad.
Tarun wrote: "I like the way the iPad's screen is touch based. I only have a kindle (original) to compare it to so the iPad is the easiest to use."Let me educate you on the subject, the Kindle Fire is a worthwhile investment, and has a touch based screen, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!
It's ok reading on an iPad but my eyes get a bit tired, on the other hand I love reading on my Sony PRS 950!
I have the iPad, but the back light kills my eyes when I use it as a reader. I find the nook simple touch reader to be best for reading. I love mine!!!!!
i had 3 ereaders before the new ipad. ipad wins :Dyou cannot beat the ipad's gorgeous HD screen, the size and the back light to read in the dark.
it's a little heavier than some other ereaders, but not more so than a hardback novel.
its a very personal decision b/c some people may need lightweight and/or don't care if it has back light etc.
i love that there are so many options. maybe we can add "love options" as the 3rd choice to the poll :P
Where does the Kindle Fire fit in? While the size is more like a traditional eReader, it's really just a tablet, like the iPad. That's where I do most of my reading. I don't like the iPad because of the size, but the backlit LCD doesn't bother me.Also, seems a lot of people are responding that shouldn't. To make the polling fair you should own BOTH an iPad AND some other eReader. Several comments indicate they do not own an iPad.
I have not touched my Nook since the iPad came into my life. I also prefer the kindle app over the nook app (I have both).
I put kindle as it's lighter and fits in my bag or pocket...but I read on my iPad too, it's just heavier, bigger not so user friendly and the battery doesn't last long.
I have an iPad (I got it for Christmas) with a Kindle app that I love but I also read some books in iBooks. I love them both! I keep waiting for the "shiny" to wear off my iPad but I still love it today as much I did Christmas morning!
While I love PADi (my iPad's name), it is not for beach use. I even bought one of those expensive Anti-Glare Protection screens that failed to do the job it promised. I definitely prefer using my Kindle when reading, at home and on vacation, because there's rarely a glare on the screen and it's not uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time. The Kindle also has a an MP3 feature, so I don't need to have my iPod handy to listen to music while reading.
I love my Kindle! Plus, I'm so glad I didn't pay the extra $40.00 to have the advertisements removed; those deals are better than Groupon :-)!
I much prefer my Kindle to any other kind of e-reader. This is mostly due to the fact that the Kindle doesn't have an LCD screen, and doesn't produce light, so it's way easy on my eyes, just like reading a real book. I LOVE MY KINDLE. I would suggest it to anyone.
I use mostly my Kindle Fire inside and my Sony 505 - eink outside (when walking or at the park, etc.)I also use the Sony and sometimes my Kindle 2 inside.
i only have my nook simple touch as a ereader and also i can read off my ipod to but i like both of them
Surprised at the poll results! I love reading on my iPad (with the Kindle app, of course so I can access Overdrive downloads)...and not so much on my daughter's Kindle Fire where the text only goes in one direction and shows very little.
I think the Kindle is more confusing. I figured how to use the iPad by myself. I prefer the screen to be bigger because it is easier.
I prefer my Kindle,Nook and Sony because it is much easier to scroll down with and it is smart and fastening to use i can check my messages my friends can even ask me is it a good thing to use iPad on good reads and i say try the Kindle the Nook or the Sony you might like what you see. And they try it they love it because they can get to their messages when they are at work they can bring it with them. Just like for my boyfriend the same thing happened for him he loves the Kindle that i got him for his birthday he reads his bibles there and even takes it to work with him he says he loves it everytime he gets home. And i am so happy to hear that

I have an iPad and my daughter has a kindle. I would have to say I would choose my iPad over the kindle. However, I have heard some wonderful things about the kindle fire. I would love to have one of those.
