Caitlin Over an iPad I prefer my kindle. However I do prefer actual paper books over anything else.

message 652: by John (new)

John Love my IPad for many things, but for comfort of reading and less eye strain, got to go with Kindle Paperwhite. Love it!

message 653: by Marrin (new)

Marrin There's nothing like Kindle's electronic paper (with e-ink and a glareless screen!), even though an iPad is phenomenal as a device.

I also like that it's *only* for reading so I can't be distracted by notifications and all sorts of other things.

message 654: by Allen (new)

Allen The Kindle is not "only" for reading. There are a few apps that it will run. I use the "My Checklist" for shopping because I always have my Kindle with me.

message 655: by Carla Powell (new)

Carla Powell Prefer my Kindle, 2nd generation that's at least 7 yrs old if not older. I have an iPad & a Kindle Fire, but I still like my old kindle for reading.

message 656: by Leon (new)

Leon Williamson Does anyone know how I can transfer books from iPad to Kindle?
http://www.leawo.org/tutorial/how-to-...

message 657: by Allen (new)

Allen Have you tried plugging both into your computer and dragging from the iPad to the Kindle/documents?

message 658: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Armistead Newman You need to email the documents to your Kindle's email address, Leon.

message 659: by Trilu (new)

Trilu I love my Kobo Glo

message 660: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos Much prefer the Kindle for reading, but I sat on it and broke the screen.Bought a Samsung tablet, but for me nothing beats the Kindle, will have to buy a new one.

message 661: by jeniwren (new)

jeniwren I much prefer my Kindle as it feels and looks more like a real book

message 662: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Crampton I prefer my Kindle to my iPad

message 663: by Patti (last edited May 22, 2014 09:06AM) (new)

Patti I love my Nook HD

message 664: by Lillian (new)

Lillian I LOVE my kindle. Its portable and easy to read on.

message 665: by Viktoria (new)

Viktoria I can't live without my PocketBook! <3

message 666: by Elle (new)

Elle B. I prefer the kindle because, I, as the germ freak think that the kidle does not get all the greasy fingers all over the device like the ipad. In Addition, I would like to add that the kindle adjusts to all lightings making it easier to read nom matter where you are in the classroom. Finally, if I were to choose the biggest reason to get the kindle, it would be that it actually feels like the real book, I am not much of a device reader, but if I were to choose any type of device I would choose the kindle

message 667: by Jill (new)

Jill Dobbe I love my Nook, but sometimes find that books are cheaper for Kindles.

message 668: by Patti (new)

Patti I love love love my Kindle Paperwhite. I can take it with me everywhere and it doesn't hurt my eyes like my iPad used to after reading for an hour.

message 669: by Lectrice (new)

Lectrice Now that I have an Ipad mini with retina display, I prefer it to the Kindle paper white--I set the screen to black with white letters at a large size (so I don't have to wear my reading glasses).

message 670: by Michael (new)

Michael I like to read articles from The Atavist (see atavist.com) on the iPad because they include all sorts of photos, videos, links, chronographs, footnotes, etc. Once I read a whole book on my iPhone (I was in Africa; there was nothing else to read.) and I really got to like it. It's so easy to curl up under a blanket (it was cold) and read in there. I don't have a Kindle, and frankly I'd be reluctant to buy one because Amazon is getting too powerful in the digital book area, and it's already started abusing that power.

Prashant Pandit I love my Kindle

message 673: by Anya (new)

Anya I prefer my kindle and it is so convenient to read.As I can buy books in seconds and there is lot of other facilities.

message 674: by Brenda (new)

Brenda I love my Kindle, plain simple Kindle. I have an IPAD, and a kindle fire but the Kindle with limited functions keep you focused on reading. If the book gets boring there is no temptation to jump to the internet, watch a movie or a play a game. Only two choices slough through hoping the book gets better or abandon it and start a new one!

message 675: by ^ (new)

^ David wrote: "This should really be about tablets vs e-ink displays."

Agree. This poll is flawed and thus irrelevant because it ignores Android tablets.

message 676: by Allen (new)

Allen All of these polls are flawed. I cannot tell whether they are aiming at large vs small, e-ink vs color, e-ink vs computer screen display, Apple vs everybody else or what. Android could be clumped with the non-iPad or iPad could be clumped with all other tablets. I think this is the third bad poll on here so far. On the other hand, e-ink is highly favored over all others, no matter what operating system drives them with the caveat that the data are still flawed because they can be misunderstood.

message 677: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine Middaugh Well I used to have a kindle and now I have an iPad that I use for reading so I still say kindle

message 678: by Rachel (new)

Rachel My kindle

message 679: by Funmbi (new)

Funmbi My Kindle Fire because it's lighter and I feel more comfortable using it than the Kindle app on my iPad. Although I do like highlighting and note taking on my iPad since I can use emojis

message 680: by Renee E (new)

Renee E Anyone notice that bunching all the e-readers into one choice makes a horrifically skewed poll?

message 681: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary Nissen-Wade I love reading on the iPad, where I use iBooks and also the Kindle and Kobo apps, and I sometimes read things in Google Drive (particularly pdf files — though iBooks is good for them too). The only reason I also have a Kobo Mini is that I can't use the iPad in strong sunlight. Also, next time I go on a long trip it will be convenient to have something that stays charged longer than the iPad does.

message 682: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Price I don't own and iPad. In my dreams, but answering the poll is the only way I could finally make it get off my home page. Love my kindle paperwhite which was an out of the blue surprise gift since. My first one was never the same after I did the update. So to the friend who did this extraordinary, kind, AMAZING random act of beyond kindness.......Thank you will never be enough. Shock, excited beyond words and thankful is a massive understatement. My eyes can now use an e-reader again without making the decline in my vision worse. Print will always be my favorite and I have to say though, that It's nearly an equal split of reading joy on the kindle and print formats. Still fighting the joy of print Love vs. E-reader, but this device is just 'so' Beautiful that I well up with tears every time I think of it. I'd 'never' have been able to replace my first one due to $$ let alone an iPad so I'm a very Happy and full of endless gratitude, woman. For the device itself and for the AMAZING person who sent it to me....I'm Forever Grateful.....I hope you know just how much :')

message 683: by Allen (new)

Allen I am on my 4th Kindle. When a friend could no longer read a book because the print was too small and the book too heavy, I sent her one of my old ones and she is now reading again. For the elderly, having variable print sizes is a game changer. When I was younger, I could probably have read the smallest font sizes, but now that I am passing 82, I am up to 3rd from the top size. Large print books are scarce, and heavy.

message 684: by Donadee's Corner (last edited Jul 20, 2014 03:03PM) (new)

Donadee's Corner I love my Kindle Fire....I use it for everything and reading. Don't know what I'd do without it??

message 685: by Naya (new)

Naya Lizardo I use my Ipad for soooo much that it feels natural to switch to the Kindle App
instead of reaching for my old Kindle reader.

message 686: by Katie (new)

Katie iPad by far...

message 687: by Sofia (new)

message 690: by Jo Ann (new)

Jo Ann I like my Kindle.

Javier García Flores The best way is to read my books with my kindle paperwhite =)

message 692: by Dominique (new)

Dominique I have a Kobo Glo and I just love it. I like the size of it and with the light incorporated it`s so easy to use it at night without opening the lights

message 693: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Price Thanks to the promotion to be able to exchange your older iPhone in for the iPad mini I can 'finally' answer this poll in full. I've had the kindle fire 1st gen., and now have the fire hd 7" and I can say without question, hands down, not even close.........The kindle fire is 'the one', 'the best' as well as the paper white. The iPad mini 1st gen., is seriously more like a glorified toys r us leap pad, lol. I'm grateful to have it and I can't afford to get a new Fire atm (mine is two years New and in need of an upgrade), so I got the iPad. So the fire, every generation, including the latest my daughter just got squashes the iPad!! Just my personal opinion, but I finally know now!! *YAY* :)

message 694: by [deleted user] (new)

eReader, hands down! iPad is OK in the house, but even then i find reflection on the screen distracting. My iPad is 3 years old, so maybe they've improved. I've used both a Nook (original, before Nook tablets) and am now on a Kindle Paperwhite. Great experience with both.

message 695: by Aneela (new)

Aneela Has to be the Kindle! Paperwhite has a light now so you can read in the dark with no eye strain!

message 696: by M. (last edited Oct 29, 2014 05:48AM) (new)

M. I'm an Apple-head, and I read using the kindle program on all of my Apple devices, from my iPhone, iPad, Mac Book Pro, to the iMac. My favorite actually is sitting at my desk in front of the iMac, with its large screen, gives me a comfortable reading spot.

When I'm at the local coffee shop, it is the Mac Book Pro or iPad, however when I take my morning walks or gym working out, it is the iPhone using audible.com or the library's overdrive program.

Either way, this book nerd/addict is getting his read on, because I have a read!

message 697: by Mieke (new)

Mieke I read on a Samsung Galaxy Tab hmm. But I actually like both.
