Muhammad Ahsen Tahiri My eyes hurt on laptop. Is Ipad better? I wanna read PDF and Epubs. Can any one tell please?

message 453: by Judy (new)

Judy I love my Kindle. It is wonderful for reading, but I also play solitaire and other games.

message 454: by Becky (new)

Becky K I have a Kindle Fire HD that I use when I want to read at night without turning on a light :) The option to have white text on a black screen is very useful at night, and doesn't give me a headache (I have light sensitivity issues). I recently purchased a basic Kindle with e-ink, and love it! No headaches, easy reading, and I can read while I use both hands for something else (usually eating or knitting).

That said, I also have shelves full of physical books, buy physical books, and will never give them up completely. As I type this, I'm reading two different e-books and a physical book, and have another physical book in my bag because I don't want to be without a book if I happen to finish this one (also a reason I love my e-books, I'm never without a "next read").

I may have a book addiction. Or a learning addiction. I'm good with that!

message 455: by Larry (new)

Larry I recently got a Kobo touch, excellent little thing, and an improvement over my Sony which lacks SD card or dictionary.

message 456: by Library Nymph (new)

Library Nymph I think our eyes stare at screens enough during the day with laptops, TVs, ect. Do we really need to look at a screen to read a book too? All this "screen time" is getting out of hand, and isn't very healthy. Why not give your eyes a screen rest, and read a paper book. :)

Chris Baez I use a tablet strictly for internet, I will not waste time playing games when I could be reading. I do have a kindle with over eight hundred books in it and have NOT read one of them. I hardly ever see the gadget itself.

I like to read the actual printed book, about 90% of them hardcover, just a bad habit.

Chris Baez Stefan wrote: "They'll never be able to replicate the actual physical experience of a physical book. Unfortunately, I fear that books will soon be a thing of the past."

My very thoughts and fears. I think especially hardcover books are already slowly going away. Actually I'm on a one man campaign to preserve the printing of hardcover books.

message 459: by Monika (new)

Monika No answer fits. I have a kindle fire wich I use for everything, e-mail, writing notes, foto and video storage and for reading. So there!

message 460: by Kristen (new)

Kristen I have an iPad, but I don't use iBooks or a Kindle app on it to read books.

message 461: by Anya (new)

Anya Herron I have a tablet and love it. I use it mostly for reading but do go on social media on my breaks and lunch at work

message 462: by Mike (new)

Mike Robbins I bought a cheap 7in. tablet just to see how much I would use one. I'm delighted with it and use it for a number of things, including reading eBooks in bed while streaming music to my Bluetooth speakers!

I also have a basic Kindle that is simpler and more robust, and more suitable for reading while straphanging. I like the way in syncs with the Kindle app on the tablet. Oddly, I prefer to read on the tablet; most people don't like to read on backlit devices - they prefer e-paper.

message 463: by Melissa (new)

Melissa H.S. I have a kindle fire that I purchased primarily for reading. I still prefer reading a real paper book, but there are so many classics available for free on my kindle, and it's great for reading with the lights out before bed! :)

message 464: by Bookish Veenita (new)

Bookish Veenita I read on my smartphone. Mostly I use FBReader to read the epub formats and also use Kindle app.

message 465: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne I love paper books, the feel the smell the whole experience! BUT, now that i have joined the elderly I can no longer see well enough to read paper books, without my Fire I would be dead in the water!

message 466: by . (new)

. Does a Kindle count? :)

message 467: by Husna (new)

Husna Rosli no because I value physical copies so much XD

message 468: by Mary (new)

Mary Alex I use my Nook primarily for reading. But when I'm at places with wifi, I use the Internet and listen to music as well.

message 469: by Xette (last edited Jan 24, 2017 11:34PM) (new)

Xette I prefer the hardbound--who doesn't?

I have an iPad with books that were bought online (if the hardbound is TOO expensive--because new, or if I want to read the book so badly and I don't have it, or my eldest sister bought it herself and shared it to the sibs.)

My other sister have a Kindle full of bromance novels (which I also adore--the struggle is real but LOVE WINS!) that she also bought online. And I get to read those stuff there for free, yay!

message 470: by Tahera (new)

Tahera Physical books all the way for me!

message 471: by Bri (new)

Bri Taylor I have an iPad mini and I use it all the time! I use it when I read in bed, or when I travel. It's super convenient.

message 472: by mysticofworlds (new)

mysticofworlds I really only read on my phone, computer, or using physical copies. I gave my e reader to my younger sister, and I'm not really familiar with Kindle. I don't really use iPads either

message 473: by Elvia (new)

Elvia When I have ebooks I'll read on my iPad but I usually only like reading paperback :)

message 474: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn I keep hard copies of my favourite books, have a library with more than a thousand books, but I still read a lot on my Kindle. It is so easy, and I can take all the books anywhere with no trouble.

message 475: by Srinivas (new)

Srinivas Veeraraghavan I always preferred physical books (Still do) but storing 'em has been a godawful pain in the backside and so I switched onto the Kindle Paperwhite 'cuz of necessity. I must confess that it has started growing on me a wee bit.

message 476: by Larry (new)

Larry I quite like my Kobo tho I haven't used it in a while.

message 477: by Tom (new)

Tom M (London) You can only use a Kindle for reading. You can't do anything else with it.

message 478: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne I used the Kindle App loads on my old iPad - when it started creaking, I purchased a Paperwhite, which I enjoy for size & weight etc. Replaced my iPad with an Amazon Fire, which is brilliant - love it for both Kindle & Borrowbox Apps (eBooks & Audiobooks) ..

I read paperbacks as my main format ..
