I have a suggestion for a memoir about an ordinary woman who lived in a historic time period. "Elsie-Adventures of an Arizona Schoolteacher 1913-1916." Elsie was a master story teller and her letters written home from the new state of Arizona reveal a time-capsule picture of what life was like in a one-room school. Her diary describes a tragic love with a young cowboy. www.barbaraannewaite.com is my website.

On my yet to read list is the Biography of a New Zealand teacher, written by Lynley Hood, called "Sylvia". I guess it's not a book anyone outside new Zealand will have easy access too, but at least I could read it and make some comments. I suppose instead of single book, which i am not very likely to take part in unless the book is in the library or otherwise of interset to me, we could have themes. (i.e. schoolteachers ... )Most of you do opt for single book...which will make discussion easier ...but who decides which book?
Zeb, if we go with the single book format, members will be able to nominate books of their choice, then a poll will be held and the book with the most votes wins.
Barbara, please nominate books for the April read here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/8...This poll is just for people to vote on what type of group read system they'd rather use, not for book nominations.
